Hal Lanier (Harold Clifton Lanier) was born on July 4, 1942 in Denton, North Carolina. He made his Major League debut on June 18, 1964 for the San Francisco Giants. In 1964, his rookie year, he hit .274 with 2 home runs and 28 RBI. Lanier played for the San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees over the course of his 10 year career.
