Hal Jeffcoat (Harold Bentley Jeffcoat) was born on September 6, 1924 in West Columbia, South Carolina. He made his Major League debut on April 20, 1948 for the Chicago Cubs. In 1948, his rookie year, he hit .279 with 4 home runs and 42 RBI. Jeffcoat played for the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 12 year career.

Most people believe that Hal Jeffcoat's best season was 1948, when he hit for a .279 average.
