Milwaukee Brewers' outfielder Tony Gwynn Jr. collected his first Major League hit on Wednesday. Pinch-hitting in the ninth inning of the Brewers' 7-6 loss to the San Francisco Giants, Gwynn laced a two-out double to record hit number one.
The fact that he did it may be less of a story than when he did it. Gwynn Jr.'s first major league hit came exactly 24 years to the day after his father, Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn, collected his first major league hit.
