Gus Sonnenberg (Gustave Adolph Sonnenberg) was born on March 6, 1898 in Ewen, Michigan. After going to high school at Marquette (MI), Sonnenberg attended Dartmouth College and the University of Detroit Mercy. Sonnenberg made his professional debut in the NFL in 1923 with the Columbus Tigers. He played for the Providence Steam Roller, Detroit Panthers and Columbus Tigers over the course of his 6 year career.
