Gus Mancuso (August Rodney Mancuso) was born on December 5, 1905 in Galveston, Texas. He made his Major League debut on April 30, 1928 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1930, his rookie year, he hit .366 with 7 home runs and 59 RBI. Mancuso played for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants, Chicago Cubs, Brooklyn Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 17 year career.

Most people believe that Gus Mancuso's best season was 1936, when he hit for a .301 average and knocked in 63 runs.
