Born on August 18, 1876 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Gus Dorner (Augustus Dorner) played for the Cleveland Broncos, Cleveland Naps, Cincinnati Reds, Boston Beaneaters and Boston Doves over the course of his 6 year career. Dorner broke into the bigs on September 17, 1902 with the Cleveland Broncos, and put up a 4.52 ERA in 73.2 innings pitched in 1903, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Gus Dorner's best season was 1907, when he posted a 3.12 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 85 batters.
