Gus Coppens (August Richard Coppens) was born on February 7, 1955 in Lynwood, California. After going to high school at Sunny Hills (Fullerton, CA), Coppens attended the University of California - Los Angeles. Coppens made his professional debut in the NFL in 1979 with the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants for his entire 1 year career.
