Greg Cater (Gregory Wayne Cater) was born on April 17, 1957 in LaGrange, Georgia. After going to high school at LaGrange (GA), Cater attended the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Cater made his professional debut in the NFL in 1980 with the Buffalo Bills. He played for the Buffalo Bills and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1983 was Greg Cater's best year, as he dropped 24 punts inside the 20.
