Boston Red Sox 6 -- Cleveland Indians 2
Well could the stars have been more aligned for a greater game tonight, not possible! As if the return wasn't enough...he pitched amazing! Given they only had 5 hit against Lester and struck out 6 times! Yeah he did let up a homer but I think that's one of those things that happen when your father is getting interviewed by ESPN while your pitching! (Just as Steve Philips about that one!) Jon's impressive moment tonight was when the bases were loaded and there were two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Lester reached back for a 93-mph fastball and struck out Grady Sizemore swinging. It was AWESOME!
So all in all he pitched great and now the staff looks that much better (maybe we need to go with six pitchers!) Wait till Schill comes back!
1. Josh Beckett 2. Curt Schilling 3. Dice-K 4. Kason Gabbard 5. Tim Wakefield 6. Jon Lester!
Enough with the pitching let's talk a little offense! The Red Sox have hit so well since the all-star break. I mean look at the last seven day's they have had 71 hits, 7 HR, 43 RBI, and at BA of .300! I mean seriously that's without Big Papi for at least half of those days!
It was just a matter of time that this team would put it all together. And it is at a very important time with the Yanks in the rear view. (who by the way won 9-2 against the Royals) So it is imperative to keep playing good ball and stay on this hot streak!
Today's all-start besides the obvious Jon Lester would have to be CoCo Crisp. He has been on a tear since the All-Star break with 19 hits! Just really starting to show who he is and what potential he has as the Sox center fielder. I hope he keeps it up because he is a good ball player and I think he takes too much because of who he replaced in Johnny Damon. If Coco keep this up it will become Johnny who?? And I hope he does. (don't get me wrong I liked Damon but he wears pin stripes)
Honorable mention... A tie; Manny Ramirez and Dustin Pedroia did a great job tonight, just quietly doing the things we need to keep it going. At this pace Manny will make it to the 100 RBI spot for the 10th consecutive year. Mike Timilin extends his 0 Earned Run streak to 13 innings and Manny Delcarmen had his first save for 2007!
Great game and let's see if Dice-K can get on board and keep from walking hitters tomorrow!
