Grattan O'Connell (John Grattan O'Connell) was born on October 27, 1902 in Thomaston, Connecticut. After going to high school at Bristol (CT) and Dean Academy (Franlklin, MA), O'Connell attended Boston College. O'Connell made his professional debut in the NFL in 1926 with the Hartford Blues. He played for the Providence Steam Roller and Hartford Blues over the course of his 2 year career.
