Grant Hill to the Spurs?

Spurs fans it is time to be excited again. According to the San Antonio Express News...

> The San Antonio Spurs are planning to speak with veteran free-agent forward Grant Hill of the Orlando Magic. Hill, who will turn 35 near the start of training camp, hasn't ruled out returning to Orlando, but also has made it clear he would like to play for a championship contender. He averaged 14.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 30.9 minutes while shooting 51.8 percent in 65 games last season.

That's right... that is right... as a Spurs fan I sincerely hope we pick up Grant Hill... he would be perfect. The Spurs need that small forward to come off the bench and back up the Bruce Bowens of the world and actually make a substantial difference on both sides of the ball. I know that it might not happen, but I would love to see Hill come to San Antonio get a championship and I don't think anyone would disagree with me on that one. He is one of the estimable class-acts in the NBA. Anyone else want a championship.... that's right... come to the Spurs baby!!!   http://fortheloveofsports.blogspot.com/

Oh MY GOD! If they get him, that'll be great for the Spurs. You got Ginobli at shooting guard, Tony Parker at Point guard, Tim Duncan at center, Robert Horry at power forward, all you really need is a small forward. If they get Grant Hill, props to them, and I'd assume that they will not win third place next year if they get him. But you have to remember that Grant HIll IS getting older, so if you want him for a year or 2, that's fine. But who would be able to stop the Spurs with a starting lineup like that? If you're sitting down Bowen, that's saying something...

My bad, Duncan can be both a center or power forward, but ALSO, other than Bowen, you got Brent Barry and his 3 and Michael Finley. If those guys are benched, what does THAT say for your starting lineup?

Both Horry and Finley have hinted at retiring, and I'd like to see Grant get a shot at a ring. Getting on a team where he can back his minutes down to 22-25 per game will make him a more consistently effective contributor.

And Horry getting his 8th? How nice would that be? Yeah, they're both gonna get less playing time and getting rings for not being the TOP producers for their team. But they both have experience, and Horry has lots of playoff experience. I think that would be amazing for both athletes. Good basketball players, that's all I can say...

Horry's got seven rings. How many non-Celtics have that many? Even His Airness only has six. Given his role in obtaining those rings, I'm tempted to nominate him for The Sixth Man of The Hall Of Fame. There's a lot of HoFers, present and future, whom he helped greatly getting to the Hall.

Mm Hill to the Spurs is a nice additive but not nessecary for them at all. He will have little to no impact on that team.

Grant Hill to the Spurs will be a great fit. It's a place where he can win right now and a team of veteran's can communicate well with eachother. Maybe the Spurs can finally get their back-to-back championships this time around locking themselves up for the word, "dynasty".

He would make a great team even better. If he is willing to be a role player--and at this point at his career, I bet he is--then this is a great team for his talents.
