Gran Mitchell (Granville Myrick Mitchell) was born on February 16, 1906 in Irene, Texas. Mitchell attended Davis & Elkins College. Mitchell made his professional debut in the NFL in 1931 with the Portsmouth Spartans. He played for the Portsmouth Spartans, New York Giants, Brooklyn Dodgers and Detroit Lions over the course of his 7 year career.
Most people believe that 1937 was Gran Mitchell's best year.
