Gordon Wright (Gordon A. Wright) was born on December 5, 1943 in West Chester, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at West Chester (PA), Wright attended Delaware State University. Wright made his professional debut in the NFL in 1967 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played in the NFL for 1 year, playing for the Philadelphia Eagles the entire time. Wright also played in the AFL for 1 year, playing for the New York Jets the entire time.
