Born on September 4, 1912 in Utopia, Texas, Gordon Maltzberger (Gordon Ralph Maltzberger) played for the Chicago White Sox for his entire 4 year career. Maltzberger broke into the bigs on April 27, 1943 with the Chicago White Sox, and put up a 2.46 ERA in 98.2 innings pitched in 1943, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Gordon Maltzberger's best season was 1944, when he posted a 2.96 ERA, won 10 games and notched 12 saves.
