Gord is part of a very esteemed hockey family. He is the son of former NHL player and head coach Bill Dineen. His younger brothers are former minor-leaguer Shawn Dineen and former NHL player Peter Dineen. His older brothers are former NHL player Kevin Dineen and former minor-leaguer Jerry Dineen.
