Good Bye Gonzo

Vote

The Diamondbacks revealed today that Luis Gonzalez, the hero and face of the organization, will not becoming back for 2007. The club holds the option on Gonzo for 2007, but decided that he was not worth the $10 million it would be worth. Luis has been the leader in many D-Back offensive categories since coming to Arizona in 1999. He may be best remembered for his bloop single that won the 2001 World Series, but to me Gonzo will be remembered for his commercials. For example, Sukura, one the Japanese restraints in Tucson, where Mr. Hung (the owner) would say "hey number one son Gonzo". That is Gonzo.

You failed to mention that the guy who made the decision NOT to bring him back is the same guy that negotiated the contract to begin with - Jeff Moorad.

Great business decision. Gonzo=$10mil? I don't think so... The franchise NEEDS to move on... 5 years have passed. Just wish they would have announced this after the season was over instead of lame-ducking him...

Enjoy playing at home in Tampa Bay, Gonzo!!!

Oh they don't play the Sukura Mr. Hung commercials in Phenix to bad. Also Gonzo asked to be told early what would happen to him.

glad to hear the lack of steroid in his system did not effect Gonzo's acting ability this past year
