God Bless America, and Tony "Corey Hart" La Russa

Brogna Blog

Tony La Russa had a long night, a long week for that matter. A few long plane rides, bus rides etc. The guy had to have a few drinks to take the edge off.

The ensuing intoxication caused him not to put in Albert Pujols off the bench and to decide to use this genius quote after Pujols was publicly angry at La Russa after [1] the game.

"If he wants to get upset, he can get upset," La Russa said. "Whatever he wants to do, he can do. It's America. That wasn't the most important thing tonight."

Hmm, what was the most important thing?

I'm pretty sure it was the game. Tony La Russa, the players and especially the MLB administration have done their best to ruin the Midsummer-Classic, with "making it count" and bullshit musical performances before the game, it's just stupid.

The game was supposed to start at 8 and of course, all of the festivities lasted until about 8:45, meaning younger children will maybe be able to watch a few innings, but that's about it.

Ridiculous job by Tony "I Wear My Sunglasses at Night" La Russa, as always.

The fact that the game started at basically 9 was a joke...I hate how fox does this...god forbid a game start at the announced time...

The play by play was terrible too. During the inside-the-park homerun, the announcer showed no emotion at all. It's a freaking insde-the-park homerun! Start showing some enthusasm!

Well, what do you expect when Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are entrusted with doing anything> Of course it'll suck. BTW - it was FOX.

insan that was an excellent point. i would believe for something that has never has happened in the 78 year history of the game deserves at least a raised voice.

Despite a lack of enthusiasm, Buck and McCarver did provide some pretty good quotes. And we learned that Tim McCarver wants to dance with Chase Utley. Go read my "Awesomely Awesome All Star Moments" for some other good stuff from the game last night.

Well, I thank God that I didn't have to listen to those idiots: Buck and McCarver. I listened to Thorne and Sutcliffe who were pretty dang good. They showed enthusiasm, talked smart, and basically showed that they weren't idiots, which was the main difference between them between Buck and McCarver...
