Giving New Meaning to the “Dirty Bird”!

Let’s think back here for a second…Remember when Michael Vick was beginning to be known as one hell of a passer? Why, it wasn’t that long ago, a couple weeks, when he was starting to resemble the next Joe Montana, John Elway, or Dan Marino with his newly found passing ability.. Or at least that’s what we were supposed to believe. However, if I recall, wasn’t that around Halloween time? See, he just put on his costume for a couple weeks…Sad part is, everyone and their grandmother thought he had finally arrived as a full fledged NFL quarterback.

What is difficult to understand here is why we’re still all caught up in the phenomena that is Michael Vick. Okay, so he has freakish abilities to run…Hey, but so did Michael Johnson and I didn’t see him line up behind center for the Atlanta Falcons. For Vick, it has been far too long that he’s been in the league where he has virtually done jack shit to still warrant any kind of praise. Don’t get me wrong, there’s isn’t a better quarterback to use when one sits down to play a game of Madden for XBOX 360 where passing is optional, but that’s about it. The fact is, we all know that if this was any other quarterback in the league, if he wasn’t sitting the bench, he’d be close to grabbing a seat. There isn’t anyone in the NFL that has been given the benefit of the doubt more than this cat, but why? Okay, so the Metro area of Atlanta loves this cat….He puts fannies in the seats, but does he still put them there when they’re losing? Or better yet, doing a new rendition of the “Dirty Bird”?

Now winning and losing is a collective team effort, but collectively does this offense know what the hell it wants to do? First they want to be a run oriented team, with a little college trickeration thrown in there, (which lasted about the first few weeks of the season until NFL defenses caught on to the bull shit)…Next thing they tell Michael Vick to go win games with his arm. I got news for you, there’s a better chance of it snowing in Miami than that happening! And when he does actually get his passes to his receivers…Well, let’s just say I’ve seen better receivers on the high school freshman football team down the street! I’ll take little Johnny over Michael Jenkins any day! On my fantasy team or in reality…Doesn’t much matter! This just in, if a tight end is the number one threat in a given offense, well lets just say the word “sorry” comes to mind.

Word out of Atlanta says Vick is frustrated. Frustrated at whom? Himself? His receivers for not making plays when he finally does get them the ball? Or is it at the coaching staff? This is from the same guy who said this offense doesn’t suit him. Of course it doesn’t…One would have to actually complete passes, the key being “on a regular basis”. See even I can get lucky once and a while…Although scoring on a regular basis best resemble one of Vick’s passes, out of reach! My friend, it’s not the system…It’s you, buddy! I can’t seem to recall Joe Montana, Dan Marino, John Elway, or for that matter Warren Moon or Randall Cunningham complaining about their systems when they played. What, not enough dump offs to Warrick Dunn, Mike? Seeing as how that’s the only kind of pass you do well, excluding Mr. Crumpler…It’s never a good thing when tight ends are the only option!

I don’t know about that, but I do know “never bite the hand that feeds you”! You might have learned that if you would’ve stayed at Virginia Tech longer while working on your passing ability. Now who didn’t love the “Dirty Bird” back in the day? We all did! Although, for some reason I don’t think it was wise to break out the new and hipper version of that yesterday and give your number one supporters a taste of it…For these people can give a rats ass what kind of passing day you have, they just want to see you run for 150 yards every time out. I would say, not the smartest fans, but hey, what do I know?

It’s so good to see you attend the same sign language class as Jake Plummer, Mike! The question is now, what should the punishment be for trying to remake the “Dirty Bird”.? Wouldn’t this be the perfect opportunity to sit Vick AKA “The Coach Killer” for one game and turn the reigns over to Matt Schaub, to see what he can do? It’s not like he can do any worse, right? Hey Jim Mora Jr., perhaps you should listen to dear old dad, because at the end of the day it comes down to winning and losing…Mr. Home Depot doesn’t like losing very much either. While I don’t know if Vick is a “Coach Killer” since I don’t know how to define that term properly…One thing I do know, over his career to date, he has done nothing to improve himself. He’s not a guy that is a natural born leader. Not a guy that you can rely on to make the clutch play when one has to be made. He’s never been that guy nor will he ever be that guy! It’s time to just face it, Michael Vick will never be anything more than a mediocre NFL quarterback, no matter what everybody tries to make him out to be!…And to me Jim, daddy’s right! That doesn’t sound like too much job security for you!

Vote in the LastRowSports.com new “Pick’em” which ask about which was the better host on MTV’s “Singled Out” back in the day. We all know we watched it while slobbering all over ourselves watching Jenny & Carmen. We one made your blood or something else bubble more…?
