Born on March 4, 1968 in El Tigre, Anzoategui (Venezuela), Giovanni Carrara (Giovanni (Jimenez) Carrara) played for the Toronto Blue Jays, Cincinnati Reds, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Dodgers and Seattle Mariners over the course of his 10 year career. Carrara broke into the bigs on July 29, 1995 with the Toronto Blue Jays, and put up a 3.16 ERA in 85.1 innings pitched in 2001, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Giovanni Carrara's most productive season. Some believe that it was 2004, when he posted a 2.18 ERA. However, others believe that it was 2001, when he posted a 3.16 ERA and struck out 70 batters.
