Gil Johnson (Gilbert Johnson) was born on December 4, 1923 in Tyler, Texas. After going to high school at Tyler (TX), Johnson attended Southern Methodist University. Johnson made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1949 with the New York Yankees. He played for the New York Yankees for his entire 1 year career.
