Giants Win, Still Not Impressive

The Giants won yet another road game to improve their overall record to 9-4 and their home record to 6-1. They beat the Philadelphia Eagles 16-13 and looked completely average in doing so. The Giants are doing enough to win on a weekly basis but the game is usually ugly and comes down to the fourth quarter. The Giants are falling into their usual trend of playing to the level of their competition.
The Giants have all but clinched a playoff birth in the very mediocre NFC but will need to get all three phases of the game in-sync if they want to win games in the playoffs. Eli Manning played a good game and did not turn the ball over while the running game struggled to produce as starting running back Brandon Jacobs coughed up the ball twice. The Giants struggled in the red zone and had to settle for field goals when they should have been getting touchdowns. Luckily for the Giants the Eagles were just as inadequate and were not able to convert on a 57 yard field goal as time expired. The Eagles offense was out of sync all game and Donovan McNabb struggled to find open receivers and seemed antsy in the pocket. In my opinion Donovan's demeanor as a quarterback has changed, when he was younger he ran and looked downfield hoping for a receiver to split open, now it seems that he is running for his life and doesn't bother looking where his receivers are running.
The Giants will play the Washington Redskins next week in a game that will be on Sunday night football. This game should be a fiercely contested game even though the Giants might not have anything to play for other than the 5 seed which holds very little difference from the 6 seed. The Redskins may still have something to play for and if nothing else they will play hard the whole season for their fallen teammate in Sean Taylor.

Surely he's not going to usurp Kyle Orton with QB play.
