Giants - Cowboys Set Cable TV History

This past Monday's big NFC East matchup between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys was the largest cable audience ever. With over an estimated 16 million viewers, the 36-22 Giants victory on ESPN topped the record set by the 1993 NAFTA debate between Al Gore and Ross Perot.
This is the first season that Monday Night Football has been on cable TV -- ABC televised the event for 36 years. Ratings so far this season have been excellent, as NFL fans have been treated to the first Saints home game at the Superdome since Hurricane Katrina, and an improbable Bears comeback victory over the Arizona Cardinals to preserve their unbeaten season.
