You can head over to your local Wal-Mart and buy some Off Deep Woods bug spray for $7.99… or you could surf on over to MLB.com and bid on the most famous bug spray in the history of baseball.
In a move right up there with some guy called Manny Stiles auctioning off his fanhood, MLB has decided to auction off the bug spray used at Jacobs Field in game 2 of this year’s ALDS between the Indians and Yankees. Yes folks, this is the same product you saw modeled on TV by Joba Chamberlain.
This is no joke ladies and gentlemen! You can place your bid starting on Black Friday and the auction will run until December 7 th. Don’t miss your chance to own this classic piece of baseball and bug spray history. Rumor has it that Scott Boras, desperate for a client, is trying to represent the bug spray. However, MLB has prohibited the move, as nobody wants to negotiate with Boras anymore.
No word on whether or not there is actually any bug spray left, or if it’s just the can. If there is some spray in there, don’t bother trying to use it to protect against the nasty Cleveland midges. It really doesn’t work, just ask the Yankees.
