According to the Plain Dealer, local stores in the Greater Cleveland area decided to display their new "Cleveland ALCS Champs" shirts today. While the paper would like to attribute it to hubris, irrational exhuberance or bad luck, I see it another way. This "mistake" lies squarely at the feet of the newest phenomena, Christmas Shopping Season. It seems like it gets earlier and earlier every year. Hell, Halloween is less than even two weeks away and yet, I'm beginning to see Christmas stuff already on the shelves. So it seems to reason why the store owners in Cleveland are trying to jump on the Indians WS bandwagon and rake in the coin to get a jump on the cash cow that is Christmas. I'd like to warn those Sox fans out there. Before you yell at your friendly neighborhood Indian fan about being cocky, remember - it's not their fault, it's all on jolly ole Saint Nick.
