Gerry Philbin (Gerald John Philbin) was born on July 31, 1941 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. After going to high school at Tolman (Pawtucket, RI), Philbin attended the University at Buffalo. Philbin made his professional debut in the AFL in 1964 with the New York Jets. He played in the AFL for 6 years, playing for the New York Jets the entire time. Philbin also played in the NFL for 4 years, playing for the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles over the course of his 4 year NFL career.
Most people believe that 1969 was Gerry Philbin's best year, as he recovered 3 opponents fumbles.
