Georgetown just finds a way to get it done

The Georgetown Hoyas seem to have nine lives. Just when people think they are done, they find a way to rise from Lazarus and win in the end. They fell behind against Boston College and Vanderbilt at halftime yet they managed to get the win in the end.

They did it again yesterday afternoon as they defeated the North Carolina Tarheels 96-84 in overtime after coming from another deficit. This win puts them to the Final Four at Atlanta on Saturday. This win was shocking in many levels. Georgetown looked done with 5 minutes to go of regulation.

They had foul problems in this game, which included Roy Hibbert having 4 fouls, Patrick Ewing Jr. having 4 fouls, and Jesse Sapp having 3 fouls.

They sputtered on offense at times.

North Carolina was getting many trips to the free throw line which is why one reason why they had a big lead over Georgetown.

When viewers look at this game, they should admire how Georgetown pull this one off.

Georgetown was able to get on a 7-0 run to cut the deficit to 70-75. This run started the impetus of them tying the game.

They put themselves in a position to score by dominating the paint. They were able to score by making layups and making free throws.

They also did a great job of getting stops when they needed it. North Carolina tried to get some inside scoring, but Hibbert was their kryptonite.

Jonathan Wallace's three tied the game at 81. This was the momentum shifter right there.

It just seemed UNC were flustered while Georgetown took it to another gear, which has been the theme of their playoff run.

The Hoyas just seemed to have that extra energy to get back into the game and put them away.

Not only were the Tarheels not scoring from the inside, but their outside shooting were outof sorts in the final minutes of regulation. By then, Georgetown smelled blood and put them away in overtime by outscoring them 12-3.

The Hoyas dominated the overtime by making easy layups and dunks. They took advantage of a tired UNC team by then.

How about the job Hibbert did in this game? He was able to get through his 4 foul problems. He did a good job of managing to play through it. He was passive for awhile which is something he had to do to prevent being fouled out. He picked his spots well.

As soon as it was 75-70, he started to get back to doing what makes him successful. He was being a force defensively by knocking of layups and pushing through his defenders to score.

His play got the team going. He knew he had to start playing. He did this at the nick of time.

Georgetown may be a lucky team, but good teams create their own breaks and luck.

Fans see this all the time with great teams in any sport. These teams just do not get rattled when things go bad. They just picked themselves up and roll out their sleeves.

It is not over till it is officially over. This team has proven that in the tournament which is another reason why people should like their chances of winning it all.

This win can only boost their confidence against the elite teams in the Final Four.

There is no question that the competition will get tougher starting with Saturday's game against the Ohio State Buckeyes, who defeated Memphis Saturday night.

Both teams are a mirror image of each other. They are resilient, physical, and tough.

If Georgetown can pull this one out, they have to face the winner of UCLA/Florida, which will not be a day at the beach.

Still with the Hoyas passing every test so far, it is time to think that this is their year with the magic carpet ride they are in.

Every of their wins have been very impressive and beautiful to watch.

Damn, I knew one of these was coming. Well, all credit the credit in the world to JTIII and the whole Georgetown team. They just wouldn't go away, and they killed my bracket in the process... Of course, it helped that UNC choked liked Latrell Sprewell on P. J. Carlesimo, but these Hoyas are a resilient bunch. I tip my hat to them.

I'll give G-Town credit for playing smarter basketball (taking better shots and running their offense better) than UNC, but at about the 7:00 minute mark, UNC changed their offense from working the ball inside and outside to dribbling around and shooting jumpers with 20 seconds left on the shot clock. This poor clock management and shot selection allowed G-Town to get back in the game. If UNC was just a bit smarter on offense, they would've been able to pull this one out.

You have to credit Georgetown's big men for shutting down UNC's players especially their big men, who could not score from the paint. They pushed UNC to the point that they became tired which made them ineffective. Hansbrough was clearly fatigued. This is why I like Georgetown to win it all. They not only play physical, but they can make you tired. The only team that is equipped to handle Georgetown is Florida.

If gambling were legal, and I had wagered money on my bracket, Georgetown would have just made me a bunch of money by winning that game...
