George Harper (George Washington Harper) was born on June 24, 1892 in Arlington, Kentucky. He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1916 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1918, his rookie year, he hit .242 with 0 home runs and 16 RBI. Harper played for the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Giants, St. Louis Cardinals and Boston Braves over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that George Harper's best season was 1925, when he slugged 18 home runs, hit for a .349 average and knocked in 97 runs.
