Born on September 18, 1898 in Cleveland, Ohio, George Uhle (George Ernest Uhle) played for the Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, New York Giants and New York Yankees over the course of his 17 year career. Uhle broke into the bigs on April 30, 1919 with the Cleveland Indians, and put up a 2.91 ERA in 127 innings pitched in 1919, his rookie year.

Most people believe that George Uhle's best season was 1926, when he posted a 2.83 ERA, won 27 games and struck out 159 batters.
