George Thompson (George D. Thompson) was born on August 31, 1899 in Lehigh, Iowa. After going to high school at Davenport (IA), Thompson attended the University of Iowa. Thompson made his professional debut in the NFL in 1923 with the Rock Island Independents. He played for the Rock Island Independents for his entire 3 year career.
