George Strickland (George Bevan Strickland) was born on January 10, 1926 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He made his Major League debut on May 7, 1950 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1951, his rookie year, he hit .216 with 9 home runs and 47 RBI. Strickland played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 10 year career.

Most people believe that George Strickland's best season was 1953, when he hit for a .284 average.
