Born on July 7, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio, George Spencer (George Elwell Spencer) played for the New York Giants and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 8 year career. Spencer broke into the bigs on August 17, 1950 with the New York Giants, and put up a 3.75 ERA in 132 innings pitched in 1951, his rookie year.

Most people believe that George Spencer's best season was 1951, when he posted a 3.75 ERA and won 10 games.
