George Shirkey (George Rogers Shirkey) was born on August 20, 1936 in Fort Stockton, Texas. After going to high school at Fort Stockton (TX), Shirkey attended Stephen F. Austin State University. Shirkey made his professional debut in the AFL in 1960 with the Houston Oilers. He played for the Houston Oilers and Oakland Raiders over the course of his 3 year career.
