George Scharein (George Albert Scharein) was born on November 21, 1914 in Decatur, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on April 19, 1937 for the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1937, his rookie year, he hit .241 with 0 home runs and 57 RBI. Scharein played for the Philadelphia Phillies for his entire 4 year career.
