George Murtagh (George Augustus Murtagh) was born on April 8, 1904 in Jersey City, New Jersey. After going to high school at St. Peter's Prep (Jersey City, NJ), Murtagh attended Georgetown University. Murtagh made his professional debut in the NFL in 1926 with the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants for his entire 7 year career.
