George Mitterwald (George Eugene Mitterwald) was born on June 7, 1945 in Berkeley, California. He made his Major League debut on September 15, 1966 for the Minnesota Twins. In 1969, his rookie year, he hit .257 with 5 home runs and 13 RBI. Mitterwald played for the Minnesota Twins and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 11 year career.

Most people believe that George Mitterwald's best season was 1973, when he slugged 16 home runs and knocked in 64 runs.
