Born on July 11, 1865 in Brooklyn, New York, George Meakim (George Clinton Meakim) played for the Louisville Colonels, Philadelphia Athletics, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Colts over the course of his 4 year career. Meakim broke into the bigs on May 2, 1890 with the Louisville Colonels, and put up a 2.91 ERA in 192 innings pitched in 1890, his rookie year.

Most people believe that George Meakim's best season was 1890, when he posted a 2.91 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 123 batters.
