Born on May 1, 1885 in Brooklyn, New York, George McQuillan (George Watt McQuillan) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 10 year career. McQuillan broke into the bigs on May 8, 1907 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 1.53 ERA in 359.2 innings pitched in 1908, his rookie year.

Most people believe that George McQuillan's best season was 1908, when he posted a 1.53 ERA, won 23 games and struck out 114 batters.
