Born on September 16, 1877 in Shelbyville, Tennessee, George McConnell (George Neely McConnell) played for the New York Highlanders, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Whales over the course of his 6 year career. McConnell broke into the bigs on April 13, 1909 with the New York Highlanders, and put up a 2.75 ERA in 176.2 innings pitched in 1912, his rookie year.
Most people believe that George McConnell's best season was 1915, when he posted a 2.20 ERA, won 25 games and struck out 151 batters.
