Born on July 30, 1869 in Methuen, Massachusetts, George Wheeler (George Louis Wheeler) played for the Philadelphia Phillies for his entire 4 year career. Wheeler broke into the bigs on September 18, 1896 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.96 ERA in 191 innings pitched in 1897, his rookie year.

Most people believe that George Wheeler's best season was 1897, when he posted a 3.96 ERA and won 11 games.
