George Kell (George Clyde Kell) was born on August 23, 1922 in Swifton, Arkansas. He made his Major League debut on September 28, 1943 for the Philadelphia Athletics. In 1944, his rookie year, he hit .268 with 0 home runs and 44 RBI. Kell played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 15 year career.

Most people believe that George Kell's best season was 1950, when he hit for a .340 average and knocked in 101 runs.
