George Karstens (George Jacob Karstens) was born on February 9, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois. After going to high school at Austin (Chicago, IL), Karstens attended Indiana University. Karstens made his professional debut in the NFL in 1949 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions for his entire 1 year career.
