George Burns (George Henry Burns) was born on January 31, 1893 in Niles, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on April 14, 1914 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1914, his rookie year, he hit .291 with 5 home runs and 57 RBI. Burns played for the Detroit Tigers, Philadelphia Athletics, Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees over the course of his 16 year career.

Most people believe that George Burns's best season was 1926, when he hit for a .358 average and knocked in 114 runs.
