Born on July 9, 1946 in Ruston, Louisiana, George Stone (George Heard Stone) played for the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets over the course of his 9 year career. Stone broke into the bigs on September 15, 1967 with the Atlanta Braves, and put up a 2.76 ERA in 75 innings pitched in 1968, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was George Stone's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1969, when he posted a 3.65 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 102 batters. However, others believe that it was 1970, when he posted a 3.86 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 131 batters.
