George Grimes (George S. Grimes) was born on July 3, 1922 in Jewell Ridge, Virginia. After going to high school at Tazwell (VA), Grimes attended the University of North Carolina and the University of Virginia. Grimes made his professional debut in the NFL in 1948 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions for his entire 1 year career.
