[edit] Biography

George Grantham (George Farley Grantham) was born on May 20, 1900 in Galena, Kansas. He made his Major League debut on September 20, 1922 for the Chicago Cubs. In 1923, his rookie year, he hit .281 with 8 home runs and 70 RBI. Grantham played for the Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds and New York Giants over the course of his 13 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was George Grantham's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1930, when he slugged 18 home runs, hit for a .324 average and knocked in 99 runs. However, others believe that it was 1923, when he stole 43 bases, hit for a .281 average and knocked in 70 runs.
