George Doherty (George E. Doherty) was born on September 5, 1920 in Camden, Mississippi. Doherty attended Louisiana Institute of Technology. Doherty made his professional debut in the NFL in 1944 with the Brooklyn Tigers. He played in the NFL for 2 years, playing for the Boston Yanks and Brooklyn Tigers over the course of his 2 year NFL career.Doherty also played in the AAFC for 2 years, playing for the Buffalo Bills and New York Yankees over the course of his 2 year AAFC career.
