George Davis (George Stacey Davis) was born on August 23, 1870 in Cohoes, New York. He made his Major League debut on April 19, 1890 for the Cleveland Spiders. In 1890, his rookie year, he hit .264 with 6 home runs and 73 RBI. Davis played for the Cleveland Spiders, New York Giants and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 20 year career.

Most people believe that George Davis's best season was 1897, when he stole 65 bases, hit for a .353 average and knocked in 136 runs.
