Born on June 7, 1888 in Edinburgh, Scotland, George Chalmers (George W. Chalmers) played for the Philadelphia Phillies for his entire 7 year career. Chalmers broke into the bigs on September 21, 1910 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.11 ERA in 208.2 innings pitched in 1911, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was George Chalmers's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1911, when he posted a 3.11 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 101 batters. However, others believe that it was 1915, when he posted a 2.48 ERA and struck out 82 batters.
