Born on August 4, 1907 in Colton, California, George Caster (George Jasper Caster) played for the Philadelphia Athletics, St. Louis Browns and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 12 year career. Caster broke into the bigs on September 10, 1934 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 6.25 ERA in 63.1 innings pitched in 1935, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was George Caster's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1938, when he posted a 4.35 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 112 batters. However, others believe that it was 1944, when he posted a 2.44 ERA and notched 12 saves.
