Born on July 22, 1891 in Barboursville, West Virginia, George Baumgardner (George Washington Baumgardner) played for the St. Louis Browns for his entire 5 year career. Baumgardner broke into the bigs on April 14, 1912 with the St. Louis Browns, and put up a 3.38 ERA in 218.1 innings pitched in 1912, his rookie year.

Most people believe that George Baumgardner's best season was 1914, when he posted a 2.79 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 93 batters.
